CREATING AND MAINTAINING EFFECTIVE ENVIRONMENTS FOR STUDENT LEARNING
CSTP: Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments for Student Learning
Teachers promote social development and responsibility within a caring community where each student is treated fairly and respectfully. They create physical or virtual learning environments that promote student learning, reflect diversity, and encourage constructive and productive interactions among students. They establish and maintain learning environments that
are physically, intellectually, and emotionally safe. Teachers create a rigorous learning environment with high expectations and appropriate support for all students. Teachers develop, communicate, and maintain high standards for individual and group behavior. They employ classroom routines, procedures, norms, and supports for positive behavior to ensure a climate in which all students can learn. They use instructional time to optimize learning.

The following items document my knowledge and skills in this area:
-Classroom Management Plan - My classroom management plan documents the definition of a Classroom Management Plan, my primary contact information, My Objective, My Classroom Rules and Student Responsibilities which include: My Course Format, Five Simple Rules To Student Success, including elaboration of those rules, Hierarchy of Consequences, Necessary Everyday Material, Attendance/ Participation Policy, Tardy Policy, Turning in Work and Grading Policy, Examinations, Make-up work/Late Work Policy, Where to Access Material to Missed Classes, Hall Passes, A Note on Academic Dishonesty, and contains a legal signature notice. tardiLaTa, turning
-Letter to Parents/ Guardians - I separated My Classroom Management Plan and my Letter to Parents/Guardians because one specifies the attention of the student and the other specifies the attention of the parent/ guardian although the two require signatures from both.
-Index Card Strategy - I separated this as a separate mini assignment for my students. The index card will include important student information, including the student's ID number, student schedule, parent/guardian name and contact number. The index card will be used to track parent communications and student discipline, successes, and concerns. I plan to keep the cards in a file box locked at the bottom of my filing cabinet. Please see the sample index card, along with the note by clicking the link in blue labeled "index card," it follows after My Classroom Management Plan.
-Class Rules Poster - The poster presents My Five Simple Rules To Student Success.
